This Privacy Policy explains how Ask Charly LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with The Blocker. Please read it carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The Blocker is a family internet protection service operated by Ask Charly LLC, a Florida limited liability company based in Boynton Beach, Florida. The Blocker is intended for use by parents and legal guardians to protect children in their care.
We use passwordless "magic link" sign-in sent to your email — we never collect or store a password.
Payment processing for the AI Edition subscription ($9.95/month) is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. Ask Charly LLC does not store credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full payment details. We receive only a Stripe customer token and subscription status.
To provide age-appropriate filtering, we collect limited information about each child a parent registers: first name, date of birth, and gender (used only to calibrate AgeGuard Intelligence's developmental framework). We do not collect more information about children than is necessary to provide the service, and we do not use it for any other purpose. See our COPPA Compliance Statement for full details on how we handle children's data specifically.
The Blocker also logs domains a protected device attempts to reach — both blocked and allowed — so parents can see what happened on their child's device. This activity data is tied to the device and child profile, not sold or shared, and is automatically deleted after 30 days (see Section 6).
The Blocker uses a third-party AI service to power AgeGuard Intelligence's domain classification and the Ask Charly advisor (AI Edition). We disclose this clearly, consistent with COPPA and general privacy best practices.
AgeGuard Intelligence's real-time domain classification, and the Ask Charly parenting advisor (AI Edition), are powered by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic, PBC. When a domain is evaluated, or a parent sends a message to Charly, relevant context — such as the domain name and the child's age — is transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's API does not use submitted data to train its models. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
AgeGuard Intelligence's real-time domain classification uses only the domain being evaluated and your child's age in years — no name, of any kind, is used for this.
Features that are personalized to your child — the Morning Insight report, Priority Alert phone calls, and the Ask Charly chat — use your child's first name, age, and any interests, personality notes, or topics you've chosen to share, so Charly's responses are genuinely tailored rather than generic.
If you use the Ask Charly chat feature, your messages and Charly's replies are saved to your account so you can pick up a conversation where you left off, and so we retain a record consistent with our commitment to your family's safety. These conversations are private to your account and are not used to train Anthropic's models. See Section 6 for retention details.
The Blocker is a cloud-based service. Account data, child profiles, and DNS activity records are stored in a secured, encrypted cloud database. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access logging. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage parents to use strong, unique passwords.
DNS activity logs (which domains were blocked or allowed for a given device) are automatically deleted after 30 days. Account and child profile information is retained while your account remains active, and is deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Ask Charly chat conversations are retained for as long as your account remains active, and are deleted along with your other account data if you delete your account. See our COPPA Compliance Statement for additional detail on children's data specifically.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers. We do not sell or rent children's information to any third party. We share information only with the service providers necessary to operate The Blocker (such as Stripe for payment processing and Anthropic for AI processing, both described above), and only to the extent necessary for them to perform that function.
You may access, correct, or delete your account information at any time from your dashboard settings, or by contacting us directly. You may request deletion of a specific child's profile and associated data at any time.
The Blocker is a service for parents and guardians, not children. We collect limited information about children (name, date of birth, gender) solely to provide age-appropriate filtering, and we do not use children's information for any purpose other than providing the service.
Please see our COPPA Compliance Statement for full details on how we handle children's data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of any material changes via email. Continued use of The Blocker after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
