Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of The Blocker service operated by Ask Charly LLC. By registering or using The Blocker, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

The Blocker provides cloud-based family internet protection through DNS filtering powered by AgeGuard Intelligence™. The service includes a Free tier and an AI Edition subscription at $9.95/month.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to use The Blocker. By registering, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any children whose information you provide.

3. Free Tier

The Free tier provides DNS filtering across 15 always-on content categories plus 5 parent-choice categories at no charge, with no expiration. We reserve the right to modify the Free tier with reasonable notice to registered users.

4. AI Edition Subscription

• The AI Edition is $9.95/month billed through Stripe
• A 7-day free trial is available with no credit card required
• You may cancel at any time — no cancellation fees
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of a charge

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use The Blocker only for lawful purposes and only to protect devices used by your own children or children in your legal care. You may not:

• Use The Blocker to monitor individuals without their legal guardian's consent
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the service
• Use the service for commercial resale without a written licensing agreement

6. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. DNS filtering depends on your device's network configuration. The Blocker is not liable for content accessed during service outages or when devices are not properly configured.

7. Limitations of Service

DNS filtering is effective when devices use The Blocker's DNS servers. Filtering may be bypassed if a device uses cellular data, a VPN, or manually overrides DNS settings. The Blocker's Device Disconnect Detection (DDD) feature alerts parents when a device leaves the protected WiFi network.

The Blocker is a tool to assist parents — it is not a substitute for parental supervision and communication.

8. Intellectual Property

The Blocker, AgeGuard Intelligence™, Charly, and all associated branding are the intellectual property of Ask Charly LLC. U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 64/013,894 is pending. Unauthorized use of our brand, technology, or content is prohibited.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Blocker is provided "as is." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the completeness of content filtering, uninterrupted service availability, or fitness for any particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

Ask Charly LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of The Blocker, including but not limited to content accessed despite filtering. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may cancel your account at any time by contacting us at david@theblocker.net.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any disputes shall be resolved in Palm Beach County, Florida.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Registered users will be notified via email of material changes. Continued use of The Blocker constitutes acceptance.
